Woman driver killed in car crash

A woman has died following a collision between two cars in Greater Manchester.

Cerri Sharples was driving a Toyota MR2 when it collided with a Peugeot 206 at the junction of Scott Lane and Woodhouse Drive, Wigan.

The 38-year-old, from Orrell, was cut free from the wreckage by firefighters but died in an ambulance on the way to hospital on Monday night.

Her male passenger and two women in the Peugeot suffered minor injuries in the crash, Greater Manchester Police said.

The man sustained cuts, bruising and a minor head injury and is currently at Wigan Royal Infirmary.

The driver and the passenger of the Peugeot suffered minor cuts.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police.
