The body of a 35-year-old man from Greater Manchester who was killed in a fall from a hotel balcony on his honeymoon in Spain is being flown home.

Steven Waddington and his wife Sarah, 28, of Cooper Fold in Middleton, were staying in Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol when the accident happened.

Mr Waddington died on Saturday after falling six floors.

A friend of the couple, who had married six weeks earlier, said: "Steven had just married his one true love".

'Feel special'

Mr Waddington, known as Waddy to his friends, was described as a "lovely, caring person" by mourners on an online memorial site.

"He was the happiest he had ever been and so in love with his beautiful wife Sarah and children Harry and Caragh," said Clare Lancaster, who started a page on the website gonetoosoon.org.

"Steven was the one person that could make everybody feel special, he had time for everyone.

"He would light up the room when he walked in and just make everyone smile."

The pair were married at the Bower Hotel in Oldham and lived with Sarah's three-year-old son and adopted teenage daughter.
