Motorist stabbed after argument

A 22-year-old motorist was stabbed after getting into a fight with the occupants of another vehicle.

The man was driving a black Volkswagen Golf in Little Hulton, Salford, when he pulled up and got into an altercation with two men from a white Transit van.

Police said the man was stabbed in the leg during the fight on Peel Lane on Sunday and remains in a stable condition in Hope Hospital.

Two men, aged 25 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

'Isolated incident'

Both were bailed until November pending further inquiries but police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Julie Connor, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Although we have made arrests, we are asking for the public's help with our inquiries.

"I would stress that this is being treated as an isolated incident.

"Nonetheless, a weapon was used and the injuries the victim sustained could have been far worse.

"Anytime a knife is used there is the potential for a fatality, so it is vital we gather as much information as possible to help us with our investigation."

No-one else was injured in the incident, which happened at about 1445 BST.
