A grandmother has been seriously hurt when she was hit by a car while out for a walk with her four-year-old granddaughter in Greater Manchester.
The 57-year-old woman was pushing her granddaughter in a buggy in Openshaw on Sunday morning when she was struck.
Police say that she was crossing a road behind a silver BMW which had stopped at a pelican crossing when it reversed.
She and the girl were both knocked to the ground and the car drove off. The girl was not hurt in the collision.
Witness appeal
However, her grandmother suffered severe head injuries and remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at the junction of Ogden Lane and Lees Street at about 1130 BST.
Following the collision, the car, which had black tinted or mirrored windows and the partial registration MT03 or MT08, drove off towards the Ashton Old Road and Fairfield Street junction.
