Man hit by car in targeted attack

A man who suffered a broken leg when he was struck by a car was deliberately targeted, police have said.

The 34-year-old man was hit on Kings Road, near the Tesco Express store in Whalley Range, Manchester, on Friday.

He had been cycling in the road with his friend who heard a screech and then saw the man lying on the ground.

He was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary suffering from a broken leg. Greater Manchester police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Det Con Dave Ogden said: "The victim said he was struck by a car and I believe the driver targeted him and drove at him deliberately.

"We do not have a description of the car, but there must have been people in the area at the time who may have seen something before during or after the collision."
