Pedestrian, 75, hit by car dies

A man has died after he was hit by a car in Greater Manchester.

John MacNab, 75, from Bramhall, Stockport, was struck by a Renault Clio on Moss Lane, near its junction with Lees Road, in Bramhall on Friday night.

He died at the scene. The car did not stop immediately but the driver later returned and spoke to police.

A 24-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Police are appealing for anyone who has any information about the collision to contact them.
