Passengers have been offered accommodation in Cyprus

A plane bound for Manchester has been stranded in Cyprus for two days because of technical difficulties.

The Easyjet flight EZY1974 took off from Paphos on Wednesday, but had to return to the airport shortly after take-off.

The flight was then cancelled while technicians investigated what was wrong with the aircraft.

Passengers were offered local accommodation and are due to fly home later on Friday.

An Easyjet spokeswoman said: "Passengers who were booked on the affected flight last night will now travel on a flight this evening which will depart at 23:10 local time.

"Passengers who chose not to fly anymore are entitled to a refund.

"Easyjet would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to passengers."
