Man arrested over pension robbery

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of an elderly woman in Greater Manchester.

The 82-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries and a broken wrist during the mugging in an alley off Greenbank Road in Rochdale on Tuesday morning.

Her pension money and house keys were stolen in the attack. The woman was taken to Rochdale Infirmary for treatment and detained overnight.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and is being questioned.
