Concern is growing for the welfare of a dog stolen from an animal sanctuary in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Police say a stranger entered the pens at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Bury Old Road, in Shuttleworth, on Monday afternoon and took a cross breed dog.

The seven-year-old black and tan bitch, called Cassie, has been at the sanctuary for four years and has been microchipped.

She was stolen at about 1645 BST. Police are appealing for information.
