A security guard has been stabbed by armed robbers as he filled a cash machine at a shop in Manchester.
Two men, armed with machetes and knives, forced their way into a Co-op store on Maple Road, Brooklands, Wythenshawe, on Thursday morning.
The robbers tried to steal the deposit boxes and a security guard was stabbed in the buttocks during the struggle.
The two men fled empty-handed. The guard was taken to hospital where he was treated before being released.
Stolen cars
Detectives say the men escaped in a stolen silver Vauxhall Astra, registration number KL06 UBS.
The car was later abandoned on Limington Drive, Brooklands, and it is thought the men then drove off in a black Mini Cooper with a white roof, also believed to be stolen.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 1030 BST.
The robbers, who were both wearing dark clothes and balaclavas, were about 5ft 8ins (1.73m) and 5ft 11ins (1.80m) tall.
