Four men hurt in separate attacks

Three men and a teenager have been injured with bladed instruments in a series of separate attacks in Salford.

A 30-year-old man was slashed across the back during a disturbance in Winifred Street, Winton, at 0100 BST.

Less than an hour later a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach and leg in Athol Street, Winton.

Two men aged 20 and 42 were attacked 90 minutes later near Patricroft Bridge, Eccles. Police have arrested two men in connection with this attack.

They were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remain in police custody for questioning.

The two men attacked in Winton are both in a serious but stable condition.

Det Sgt Simon Akker said: "At this stage we are not linking these assaults.

"Four men have been left with horrific injuries as a result of these separate vicious attacks.

"We do not know at this stage what weapons were used.

"I would like to reassure people we are doing all we can to try and catch those responsible.

"If anyone has any information about these incidents I would ask them to call us."
