Man arrested over pensioner rape

A man has been arrested after an 85-year-old woman was raped and stabbed at her home in Greater Manchester.

The man forced his way into the elderly lady's home in the Smithills area of Bolton on 20 June.

Police said he initially demanded money but then stabbed her in the hand and leg, before raping her several times in an ordeal lasting up to an hour.

A 22-year-old man is being held on suspicion of rape and questioned about the attack two weeks ago.
