Risley prison fight investigated

Police are investigating a serious disturbance at a Cheshire prison after four people were hurt.

Three inmates needed hospital treatment after a series of fights broke out in the exercise yard at HMP Risley, near Warrington, on Thursday evening.

A spokesman for the Prison Service said a member of staff was also injured while carrying out his duties.

The incident, which happened at about 1845 BST, is now to be investigated by police, the spokesman added.
