A 70-year-old man has been charged with murdering a young father in Manchester city centre.

Craig Douglas, 25, was stabbed in the neck with a small knife as he was walking along Canal Street on the night of 25 February.

He died in hospital a short time after he was attacked. David Broady from Victoria Square, Manchester, has been charged with murdering Mr Douglas.

He is due to appear before magistrates in the city on Wednesday morning.

Another man, aged 66, was arrested on suspicion of murder earlier in the week and has been bailed until March.

A 49-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge.
