Football manager Darren Ferguson has pleaded not guilty to assaulting his ex-wife on a driveway.

The Peterborough United manager, who is the son of Sir Alex Ferguson, denied assaulting Nadine Ferguson, 28, in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on 23 October.

The player-manager, 35, of Greatford, Lincolnshire, was given unconditional bail at court on Wednesday for the charge of common assault.

He will stand trial at Macclesfield Magistrates' Court on 21 April.

As a player, Mr Ferguson made 27 appearances for Manchester United before signing for Wolves and later Sparta Rotterdam and Wrexham.
