Inquiries continue into shootings
Police are continuing to investigate two shooting incidents in Greater Manchester in which one man died and a further three were injured.

The men were taken to North Manchester General Hospital on Monday night.

One of them later died in hospital and two others were treated for gunshot wounds to their backs.

A fourth man is in a serious but stable condition after being shot in Trafford. Police are refusing to say whether the two incidents are linked.

Three of the men admitted themselves to North Manchester General Hospital shortly after 1800 GMT.

Post-mortem examination

One later discharged himself and another, whose condition was serious, was transferred to another hospital.

No information has yet been released about where the first shootings took place.

The fourth man was found with gunshot wounds to his back on Washway Road in Trafford at about 1830 GMT.

A post-mortem examination on the dead man is expected to take place later.

The four shootings marked the culmination of a year in which at least six males were shot in Greater Manchester during the past three months.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the two latest incidents to get in touch.
