Murder probe after man shot dead
A murder investigation is under way after a man was shot dead and three others were injured in Manchester.

Police were called after three men were taken to North Manchester General Hospital, where one of them died from his injuries.

Another was treated for a shotgun wound to his back while the third man was treated after being grazed by a bullet.

A fourth man was shot in an unrelated incident in the Washway area and was in a serious condition with a back wound.

Greater Manchester Police said it was unclear if the other three men had been injured in one incident, or where in the city they had been shot.

'Very serious'

Police said one of the injured men had discharged himself from hospital later in the evening, while the other had been transferred to another hospital, which was not identified.

Police officers were sent to the hospital after the men first arrived there, shortly after 1800 GMT.

A hospital spokesman said: "It was a busy time for the Accident and Emergency and we had to divert resources to deal with this.

"It was a very serious situation."

Police said the fourth man, shot in an unrelated attack, was found in Washway at about 1830 GMT.

Officers have asked anyone with information to contact them.
