It is understood the boys were on their way to the weekly Wednesday afternoon sports day to play rugby.

Pupils were told of the news in a special assembly on Thursday.

A spokesman for the school said: "At the main assembly this morning, which was a very emotional event, all of the boys of the school were informed of this terrible accident.

"They had just completed their university applications and a bright future was forecast for both students.
