Armed gang raid city centre bank
Police are hunting for four men who smashed their way into a bank in the centre of Manchester before stealing a substantial amount of money.

The gang, brandishing a sledgehammer and a handgun, targeted Lloyds TSB on Mosley Street on Friday afternoon.

Police said two men got out of a black Volkswagen Golf and used a metal grid to smash their way through the front window and enter the bank.

The men stole four cases of cash before driving off towards Spring Gardens.

No-one was injured in the incident but detectives said staff at the bank were left shaken by the ordeal, which happened just after 1730 GMT.

The offenders all wore black balaclavas, grey jackets and gloves.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact police.
