Gang threaten family at gunpoint
A gang of robbers threatened a family of four at gunpoint while they stole cash and jewellery from their flat.

Police said three men entered the flat in Beech Hill, Wigan, Greater Manchester, early on Wednesday.

During the 20-minute ordeal, they struck the 29-year-old male homeowner in the eye with a blunt object.

The couple were then tied up with carpet tape, before the robbers fled with cash, mobile phones, a gold necklace and computers.

Det Sgt Ian Melling, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This was an extremely distressing incident for this family.

"They have been so terrified that they no longer wish to return to their home."

The couple and their two children were asleep when the men, all described as Chinese, targeted the flat, above the Fortune Inn takeaway in Wellfield Road, at 0200 GMT.

One of the offenders is believed to have had a handgun.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
