Fourth man charged over stabbing

A fourth man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of Keith Platt in Greater Manchester.

Gary Longworth, of Stewart Avenue in Farnworth, was charged with violent disorder and two counts of assault following the death of Keith Platt.

Mr Platt was found with stab wounds in Church Road, Farnworth, on 16 March as police were patrolling the area. He died the following day in hospital.

The 20-year-old will appear before Bolton Magistrates' Court on 11 May.

Further charges

Three men have already been charged in connection with Mr Platt's death.

Richard Knott, 19, of Masefield Drive, New Bury, Farnworth, was charged with Mr Platt's murder and Daniel Walmsley, 20, of Buckley Lane, Farnworth, was charged with violent disorder and two counts of assault.

Bradley Ainsworth, 20, of Masefield Drive, New Bury, Farnworth, was charged with violent disorder and assault.

Three other men, aged 18, 19 and 21, who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed pending further inquiries.
