A 43-year-old pedestrian who died after being hit by a motorbike which was involved in a collision with a car in Greater Manchester has been named.

Lyndsay Oldham, from Ainsworth, was killed as she walked home with two of her children following a meal at a pub in Bury for her husband's birthday.

According to police, a VW Golf turned right onto Church Street and collided with a Yamaha R1 bike on Friday.

The rider was thrown off but the bike hit Mrs Oldham and her children.

Mrs Oldham, who suffered severe head injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene and the children, aged 14 and 17, were taken to Royal Bolton Hospital for treatment before being released.

'Absolutely devastated'

The rider of the motorbike, who is in his late 30s, suffered a broken leg in the accident and was also taken to Royal Bolton Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car was unhurt but was said to be suffering from shock.

Mrs Oldham, of Edgeworth Avenue, worked for the local authority in Bury as an IT service desk engineer.

Her husband George and three children Sarah, David and Emma Jane, paid tribute to her, saying: "We are absolutely devastated by what has happened. We all loved her and will miss her very much."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened at about 1300 BST.
