Men injured in cherry-picker fall
Cherry-picker accident in Albert Square
The men were working on a statue when the cherry-picker toppled over
Two men are in hospital after they fell 30ft (9m) when their cherry-picker toppled over in Manchester city centre.

A 57-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and is in a critical condition at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The other man's condition is "stable".

It is believed the pair were carrying out work on a statue in Albert Square when the cherry-picker toppled over on Wednesday evening.

The police and Health and Safety Executive have opened an investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the accident - which happened at about 1930 BST - is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police.
