Pair in court over toddler death

A man and a woman have appeared in court over the death of a 17-month-old boy in Salford.

Hugo Wang died of head injuries at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury on Friday.

Agnes Wong, 27, of Frank Cowin Court, Lower Broughton, Salford, has been charged with murder.

Jian Liu, 38, of Frank Cowin Court, is charged with allowing the death of a child by an unlawful act. Two others were released without charge.

The pair appeared before Salford magistrates on Tuesday and were remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Crown Court on 16 April.

The two others who were not charged were being held by the immigration service.
