The new library cost £1.2m to build
A book bar has been opened as part of a million-pound library project aimed at quenching teenagers' thirst for reading in Greater Manchester.

The book bar is part of the new Bolton Library. It is a place where readers can relax and 'book waiters' will bring them a good read and refreshments.

The new building on The High Street opened its doors after a year-long building project costing about £1.2m.

The original library closed in January 2006 after more than 100 years.

Work on the new library was funded by Bolton Council, Neighbourhood Renewal Funding and a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Executive member for Culture and Community Services, Councillor Ismail Ibrahim, said: "This is an exciting time for everyone involved in the High Street project and I am sure the building will be well used by members of the community."
