A hospital porter died after becoming trapped in machinery at a hospital in Greater Manchester, police said.
The 58-year-old got caught in the waste-crushing machine at the Royal Bolton Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
The man, who worked for sub-contractors ISS Mediclean, was freed but later died from his injuries.
A joint investigation by Greater Manchester Police and the Health and Safety Executive is under way into the circumstances of the accident.
The hospital has sent its condolences to the man's family and colleagues.
