Firm fined over machinery death
A firm has been fined £20,000 after a worker who became trapped in machinery at its Greater Manchester factory died.

Philip Ashcroft was working inside a vacuum-forming machine in 2002 when it began to operate, trapping him inside.

Barkston Plastics Forming Ltd, of Bolton, did not follow the correct health and safety procedures, Trafford Magistrates' Court was told.

The court heard they had also not provided suitable training for managers and employees.

The company, based on Wingate Industrial Estate, were charged under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

They were also ordered to pay £5,100 costs.
