An 18-year-old has been arrested by police investigating the attack of a man who confronted youths throwing eggs at his house in Greater Manchester.

The 27-year-old victim was left seriously injured after he was beaten about the head with planks of wood by his house in Benchill on 29 July.

Greater Manchester Police said the teenager was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed until 19 October.

Officers added the victim's condition had vastly improved since the attack.

In July, a 16-year-old boy was charged with assaulting the man.
