Detectives have released an e-fit image of a man they want to trace in relation to an attack in Manchester which left a 22-year-old man fighting for his life.

Adam Brisley was repeatedly punched in the face and stamped on during the attack outside a takeaway on Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield on 25 August.

The man police are looking is described as white, stocky, aged 30 to 35, 5ft 7in tall, with a bald or shaven head.

He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and a second man was with him.

Police say the other man was white, aged 30 to 35, 6ft tall, of large build and also had a shaven head. He was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops.

Detective Inspector Nav Riaz from South Manchester CID said: "We have been able to produce this e-fit based on witness descriptions.

"I hope that someone will recognise the image and contact us so we can trace those who have left Adam in such a critical condition."

The attack happened at about 0230 BST outside Nando's takeaway on Wilmslow Road, where Mr Brisley works.

He had graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University this summer.
