Pc Shaw died at the scene of the crash in Bolton
The wife of a police motorcyclist who died after hitting a heavy goods lorry while on duty in Bolton says her husband was one in a million.

Allan Shaw, 33, was taking part in a training exercise when he crashed at Crompton Way, Astley Bridge, on Wednesday morning.

Pc Shaw, the father of a two-year-old daughter, died at the scene and no one else was hurt.

His wife Kerrie-Ann paid tribute to him, saying he was a man like no other.

Crash investigation

"He was a bubbly lively character with a heart of gold," said Mrs Shaw.

"Anybody who had the pleasure of meeting Allan was instantly at ease.

"He was the ultimate family man. He loved his football and was a lifelong Everton fan, and the passion for his work lead to the devastating consequence."

Mr Shaw, from Ashton-in-Makerfield, joined the force in 1999 and was based at the road policing unit at Plant Hill.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
