Nurse stabbed in hospital attack

The woman was believed to be on her way home
A nurse was approached and stabbed as she got into her car in a hospital car park, police have said.

The woman, who is in her 50s, was believed to be on her way home after a shift at Birch Hill Hospital in Littleborough on Sunday evening.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said the woman, who is from Rochdale, is in a stable condition in hospital.

A 15-year-old boy from Rochdale has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in police custody.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "The attack is alleged to have taken place as the woman was getting out of her car.

"She is thought to have been on her way home about 9.40pm but returned to collect something."
