A nine-year-old girl fought off a man who tried to abduct her from a street in Greater Manchester.
The masked man grabbed her as she walked along Blackberry Lane in Brinnington, Stockport.
He put a cloth over her mouth and pulled her arms behind her, but the girl kicked him and managed to escape.
Greater Manchester Police said the attempted abduction on Tuesday was "an extremely alarming ordeal". They are appealing for information.
The man was about 6ft tall and was wearing a black t-shirt with "Ted Baker" written in white on it, a black balaclava and black fingerless gloves.
Det Con Dave Wheatley, from Stockport CID, said: "This has been an extremely alarming ordeal for this young girl and we are keen to trace the person responsible for it.
"At this stage this does appear to have been an isolated attack but we would advise parents to speak to their children about personal safety."
