City council seeks foxy surveyors
A city's residents are being asked to log their brushes with foxes.

Manchester City Council's Fox Watch follows its successful hedgehog survey last year to coincide with Mammals Trust UK Survey.

The council said foxes were the masters of urban living and were often sighted on streets or in gardens - but no figures exist for Manchester.

It plans to create a map of where the mammals are found and compare the populations annually.

Councillor Neil Swannick, executive member for planning and the environment, said: "Foxes are now a part of city life and this is an opportunity to see how many have moved into the urban environment in Manchester."

Anyone who spots a fox in their neighbourhood should contact the council via email: look@wildaboutmanchester.info.
