'Upside down' houses sell quickly
The exterior of the terraces will be kept intact

Revamped Victorian terraced houses in run-down Salford sold out within hours of going on the market.

Dozens of people camped out for three days to get a chance to own a home by trendy developers Urban Splash.

A spokeswoman said it took two-and-a-half hours to sell the 108 homes - which range in price from £99,500 to £140,000 - on Saturday.

"A few people were disappointed but we will be keeping their names on a waiting list," she added.

The developers plan to keep the exterior of the derelict homes in Langworthy intact, while giving the interiors an ultra-modern renovation.

They are being dubbed "upside down houses" as the bedrooms will be on the ground floor and living areas upstairs.

The terraces are being developed as part of the Chimney Pot park development and are on Laburnum Street, Ash Street, Reservoir Street, Field Street, Wall Street and parts of Fir Street, Alder Street and Jubilee Street.
