Boy remanded over schoolboy death
Joe Geeling
Joe was last seen making the short walk home from school
A 14-year-old boy charged with murdering schoolboy Joe Geeling has been remanded in custody.

The 11-year-old's body was found in a park in Bury, Greater Manchester, on Thursday. Post-mortem tests showed he died of multiple stab wounds.

Joe, who had cystic fibrosis, was last seen on Wednesday on his way home from Bury's St Gabriel's RC High School.

The 14-year-old was remanded in secure accommodation until 13 March at Bury Youth Court on Monday.

He spoke only to confirm his name and address during a 20-minute hearing.

Joe's body was found in Whitehead Park in Bury and was formally identified on Saturday.

A statement from his parents Tom and Gwen, his sisters Kelly and Danielle, and brothers James and Sean, was issued after the identification.

They paid tribute to their "little angel" and described how he did not let the fact he had cystic fibrosis - a condition affecting the lungs - hold him back.
