Warning over attempted abductions
Schoolchildren are being warned to be on their guard after two attempted abductions in Greater Manchester.

In the first incident a 16-year-old was walking along Bird Hall Lane in Adswood, Stockport, on Thursday 4 May, when a man tried to get her in his car.

The man is described as white, aged between 20 and 30 with dark hair.

The next day a 15-year-old girl was approached on Ashley Drive in Bramhall by a man who tried to pull her into his Audi car, but she managed to run away.

He is described as white, about 40-years-old, of large build with a pale complexion, a round face, and hair that had been shaved, but had grown back slightly.

'Personal safety'

Police said the man asked the girl for directions but when she was unable to help him, he became aggressive and tried to grab her arm and pull her into the car.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "At this stage, we are not aware of any other incidents which appear to be related, but I would advise parents to speak to their children about personal safety.

"Children should stick to well lit areas, stay in groups wherever possible and keep their parents informed about where they are going and what time they are due back.

"In both these cases, the girls involved did the right thing but getting away from this man as soon as possible. I would urge anyone who sees anybody acting suspiciously in the area to report it to a parent, teacher or police as soon as possible."
