Police hunt screwdriver attacker
Police have appealed for help hunting an attacker who stabbed another man in the head with a screwdriver which penetrated his skull.

The 37-year-old victim was found in Ivy Street, in Patricroft, Salford, in the early hours of Saturday.

Police believe the attack was racially motivated and that the victim had been in a row with another man before he was attacked and injured.

Doctors said he was in a poorly but stable condition.

'Vicious attack'

Det Ch Insp Geoff Wessell said: "This was a particularly vicious attack that has left the victim with potentially life changing injuries.

"I believe the local community knows who is responsible for this attack.

"My officers are actively searching for him and I am confident we will detain him in the near future, but I would appeal to him to come forward voluntarily.

"I would also appeal to the wider community, this was a vicious attack and I need to speak to this man urgently."
