Police officer hurt making arrest
A plain clothes police officer has been injured while attempting to make an arrest in Greater Manchester.

The officer received minor injuries when he was dragged for 10m (33ft) by a car after he and a colleague tried to question the two occupants on Thursday.

Police said the incident happened on Meadowbrook Way in Adswood, Stockport.

A man, 32, was arrested on suspicion of assault and burglary, and a man, 33, also from Wythenshawe, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The two officers had stopped a red Audi at about 1945 BST following reports of suspicious circumstances.

Knife recovered

They got out of their unmarked police car and went over to speak to the driver and passenger.

One of the officers leant into the driver's window and asked for his details.

He then began to arrest the man, but the driver started his engine and drove off down the road dragging the officer, who eventually managed to stop the engine.

The injured officer suffered a chipped tooth, cuts to his upper arms and pain to his arm and back, but did not require hospital treatment.

A number of items were recovered from the car, including credit cards and a knife.
