Appeal after teenage girl raped
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old girl was raped in Greater Manchester.

She was walking along Wellington Road, in Oldham, on 18 January when a man asked her for a cigarette.

When she told him she did not have any he grabbed her, pushed her into bushes, threatened her and raped her.

Her attacker, who spoke with a local accent, is described as Asian, aged 19 or 20, 5ft 4ins to 5ft 5ins tall, of medium build and with a chubby face.

'Terrifying ordeal'

He was clean shaven and was wearing a black beanie hat and black tracksuit with white stripes on the legs.

The attack took place at about 1720 GMT.

Det Con Jonathan Waywell, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This girl has been through a terrifying ordeal and it is vital that we find the person responsible.

"This happened at a busy time of the day when many people may have been walking around.

"I would urge people to think back to what they were doing that day and let us know if they remember seeing anyone acting suspiciously in the area."
