Vandals have damaged 12 headstones at a church graveyard in Greater Manchester.
Police estimated that several thousand pounds worth of damage was caused in the attack at St Martin's Parish Church in Ashton-on-Mersey, Trafford.
The incident is believed to have happened between midnight BST last Thursday and 1800 on Saturday.
The damage was discovered by the church warden and reported to police who believe a blunt instrument was used to chip the headstones.
All the headstones damaged are situated towards the back of the graveyard which is on Church Lane.
Police said one of the headstones appeared to have been pushed over during the attack.
