Police hunt New Year's Day rapist
Police are hunting a man who raped another man in Manchester.

The 22-year-old victim from Old Trafford had been on a night out in the city centre on New Year's Day, when he took a black cab with another man.

They were taken to an address near Whalley Range before going into a house where he was raped.

His attacker is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, 5ft 11ins tall, slim and aged in his late 20s or early 30s.

The pair had hailed a taxi, driven by an Asian man aged about 40, between Princess Street and Oxford Road in the city centre.

Information appeal

Detectives believe black cab drivers may have information that could help them.

Det Con Ian Shore, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "I would like to appeal specifically to drivers of black cabs to think back to the early hours of New Year's Day.

"Does anybody remember picking up two men, one white and one of Middle Eastern appearance, between the hours of 0400 and 0500 GMT in between Princess Street and Oxford Road area of Manchester and dropping them of at an address near to Whalley Range?"

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
