A team of firefighters will be giving a show of strength on Thursday when they drag a fully-laden fire engine through the streets of Bolton.
The firefighters from London are raising funds for the dependents of Gtr Manchester firefighter Paul Cross who was killed travelling to work.
The London officers said it was a thank you for the fundraising support they have received in the town in the past.
The team are also fundraising in pubs in Manchester and Bolton.
Kevin Quinn, from the Fire Services Benevolent fund, said the fundraising effort is to thank the people of Bolton for their support for an appeal for the relatives of a London firefighter killed in the 7 July terrorist bombing.
"The people were fantastic and we wanted to do something in return," he said.
The firefighters, who will pull the engine through Bolton, include officers from Merseyside and Brighton.
