Officer hurt in hit-and-run crash
A police officer has been taken to hospital after he was struck by a car while riding his bike in Manchester.

The man was on duty when he was cycling on a police bike along Cheetham Hill Road when he was knocked off near Penrose Close.

He was taken to North Manchester General Hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises.

The driver of the car failed to stop. Anyone with information is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police.

The injured officer was released from hospital in the early hours of Thursday.

A section of Cheetham Hill Road was closed while the crash scene was examined.
