Driver is urged to contact police
Police in Greater Manchester are urging a motorist who hit a pedestrian and drove off, to contact them.

Officers believe the driver may not have been aware of the accident which left a man with serious head injuries.

The pedestrian was hit by a light goods vehicle which was travelling along New Street, Blackrod, in Wigan, on Thursday night.

The 42-year-old victim was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital. His condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Police said the vehicle is described as a large curtain-sided goods vehicle with a white cab.

It continued to travel in the direction of Westhoughton, Bolton, after the incident.
