A police officer who helped save four people from a burning house in Rochdale is receiving a bravery award.
Pc Mark Challender broke into the house in Rochdale after hearing the cries of the children trapped inside.
With firefighters stuck in traffic, Pc Challender rescued two children from the property then returned to the smoke filled house to hunt for two adults.
All four people were critically ill after the incident in March 2004, but have since made a full recovery.
Pc Challender was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke.
The constable is being presented with a County Fire Officer's Commendation in recognition of his bravery.
