Detectives investigating the gangland killing of a drug dealer have charged a 26-year-old with conspiracy to murder.

Paul Reilly was shot in front of his family at his home in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester, on 18 January 2001.

David Dalton Spencer, from Cheetham Hill, was charged on Thursday night and is due at Stockport magistrates court on Friday.

Five men were convicted of conspiracy to murder Reilly, 31, and given life sentences in April 2003.

Reilly's death was ordered by rival drug dealer, Andrew Synott, Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court was told in April 2003.

Reilly was said to have controlled drug dealing in the Lancashire Hill area of Stockport, but launched a bid to take over his rival's Adswood turf and was killed.
