Girl, 12, escapes abduction bid
Detectives are hunting a man who tried to abduct a 12-year-old school girl in south Manchester.

The girl was walking down an alleyway between Barlow Moor Road and Cross Road, Chorlton, when she was grabbed and dragged towards a red car.

She kicked the man in the shin and managed to break free before running towards Beech Road.

Det Con Pete Rosenbloom, of Greater Manchester Police, said the girl had been left extremely traumatised.

Details of the incident, which happened on 11 November, have just been released.

Vigilance urged

"This was a frightening ordeal for the girl to go through," said Mr Rosenbloom.

"She has now been video interviewed and provided a detailed description of the man, and I would ask anyone who recognises this description to contact police.

"I would like to advise the local community to be vigilant at all times and encourage them to report any suspicious behaviour in the area to police," he added.

The girl's attacker is described as white, about 26-years-old, 5ft 7ins tall, and of medium build.

He was wearing a black waterproof anorak, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with silver or white stripes.
