Pair charged over gun incidents

Detectives investigating a series of firearms incidents in Wigan, including one in which police were fired at, have charged two men.

Neil Wood, 26, of Scot Lane in Wigan, has been charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and firearm offences.

Adam Bannister, 19, of Mesnes Avenue in Wigan, has been charged with robbery and firearms offences.

Greater Manchester Police say the pair were due before Bolton magistrates on Wednesday.

A 21-year-old woman from Wigan, and a woman, 25, from Belper, Derbyshire, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released on police bail until January.
