Christian cyclists were staging a "Tour de Salford" on Saturday to pray for the city's future.
The 50km bike ride is part of the Big Deal campaign being observed in the city's 105 churches.
Participants plan to stop in each of the city's eight neighbourhoods to pray in churches along the route.
It is organised by youth charity The Message, which plans to spread understanding of Christianity among young people across Greater Manchester.
The bike ride was due to begin at the World Harvest Bible Church, in Salford Quays, at 1030 BST with participants meeting half an hour earlier.
Organiser Alan Saunders said: "We want this cycle of prayer to be a great event for Salford.
"Showing that Christians love and care about the city and praying for local needs."
