Man struck by city centre tram

A 52-year-old man suffered back injuries when he was hit by a tram in Manchester city centre.

The accident happened on Corporation Street, near Victoria station, just before rush-hour on Friday.

Greater Manchester Police said the man has been taken to North Manchester General Hospital, but his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

Metrolink said there were some minor delays after the incident, but that services were quickly back to normal.
